Website Design
New Media Mill's web tools revolutionize how organizations add content to their websites. Gone are the internal bottlenecks common when important content had to wait until a “webmaster” could create the “code” necessary to present text on a website. This amazing open-source utility, known as Drupal, equips everyone, interns and executives, with a simple tool to create web content. The What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get editor automatically codes text, headlines, images, even links to streaming media, and assembles these elements on a webpage. All users need is a web browser and an Internet connection. Drupal enjoys the largest development community that we are aware of and it has been growing faster than virtually any single software project in the world. Indeed, part of Drupal’s strength is that it draws from developers in every part of the globe who share and test the code that is created. As with many open source systems, Drupal is built using web standard PHP and MYSQL. No piece of code is included in the updated builds of Drupal until it has been tested and deployed in Beta by this far-flung development community. Having outstripped all other content management systems in terms of capability and evolution, Drupal is currently used by thousands of sites including Sony BMG, MTV UK, Fast Company, Popular Science and Amnesty International. Drupal can be administered entirely using a web browser, making it possible to access it from around the world and requires no additional software to be installed on your computer. An easy-to-understand graphic user interface introduces formatting tools for bolding, sizing, color and tables. A robust administrative interface can be used by colleagues to “vet” content before making it live to the web. The administrative interface can be used to assign different levels of permission to individuals, endowing some with the right to edit and/or publish content while others are permitted only to write content for others to review. Both the content and the presentation can be individualized based on user-defined preferences. Among the many other features, the content management system also: The content management system is based on open source languages PHP and MYSQL. The underlying code is not proprietary and is not owned by New Media Mill. This means any programmer familiar with these languages can be hired to alter or update these languages. There are many enhancements available to the basic content management system. Inquiries to Ashish Ghimire or Stew Harris, 202-728-0011.
